History of the Mill

 

Only known history: “A similar mill [to Fischer’s] once stood in Danby (Glen Ellyn) north of Pennsylvania Ave. in the middle of the block about where Glenwood Ave. would be if extended north...this was a grist-mill, well-patronized, destroyed by fire.”  It was the first gristmill in town and dates before Danby was mapped in 1855.
